Will you puff my eyes?
NO!
Non-contact tonometry, commonly known as the "air puff" test, is one of the 2 most common methods of measuring intraocular pressure (IOP). High IOP can mean you have glaucoma. We use the other method, called Goldmann tonometry. While it does require eyedrops in order to perform the test, all but about 5 of my patients prefer this method over the air puff.
In my opinion it is much more civilized than the air puff, which can be very startling. If you've never been tested this way, why not give it a try?
